ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND:
The Child President’s Scholarship Fund is a little step in advancing the empowerment of young community leaders through enabling their access to tertiary level education. This will be carried out as a fundraising initiative which will culminate in the administration of an annual scholarship fund for young leaders to go to local universities. It will benefit young leaders making an impact in their communities who are between the ages of 15 and 24 years and do not have the finances to further their education.
This initiative will seek to engage the innovation of youth groups in providing solutions to their own challenges as they raise funds to send youth leaders in their districts and provinces to university. It will be a youth-focused and youth-led scholarship programme as young people work to bring their own dreams to reality.
FUNDRAISING STRATEGY
Interested youth groups which include school interact clubs, junior councils and other youth-serving organizations, will be clustered and engaged to lead fundraising efforts for the scholarship programme. Youth groups will design and implement their own fundraising activities that may include individual contributions and multi-level sponsorship. In addition to this, companies and individuals will be encouraged to pledge to equal or contribute a percentage of the total fundraised amount to enable more young leaders to benefit from the initiative.
Secondary forms of fundraising will include partnerships with organizations, companies and individuals interested in sponsoring additional components of the programme in diversifying beneficiaries. Other private and public players will be engaged to bolster the scholarship programme in providing educational material, life-skills and career training, as well as food and accommodation support for successful candidates.
Short-listed candidates will be expected to actively contribute to fundraising activities after they are selected for the scholarship programme. On an annual basis, students sponsored by the programme will also be expected to carry out fundraising activities in their universities to help sustain the programme.
Criteria for Selection
The scholarship programme will seek to provide financial and non-monetary support to young community leaders who:
